8 Days to Go, and So Much Nonsense

I would just like to say that it is officially a little over a week until I leave. Eight days to be exact. What better way to commemorate this occasion than learning to count your multiples of eight? I try to maintain a certain level of education int his blog as well as entertainment. I also figured that I haven't referenced enough old things, and I figured that this video, which instilled in my childhood a sense of watching VHS tapes just to watch VHS tapes will bring fond memories to a new generation, who otherwise will go on without it.
So, my bags are continuing to be packed and I have increased my literature intake more than I originally imagined. Until I get my suitcase on Monday, I am stuffing it in my overhead compartment bag, and it is filling up fast! My back is going to be sore before I dedicate 10 hours of my life to sitting by a window and hoping that my body recognizes the need not to go to the bathroom. I also have a plug adapter and I am getting a pair of glasses. Yes, yours truly is not the visually bright man he was years ago (though the doctor claims my condition has been stable, so that's a good thing).

Unfortunately, they are not Optigrab glasses, which have influenced the way I literally look at life. Don't know what it is? The video above should inform you on why Navin Johnson should be an American hero. No, my glasses are more drab and normal. No existing pictures exist of me with these glasses, but depending on Alex's guerrilla style photo taking, some may exist very, very soon.
I am also getting the last of my affairs in order, including how best to pronounce things over there. Every time I look words up, the one that I have most trouble with is:

Yes, this propaganda was thrown on me last time I went overseas, and I haven't been able to pronounce James the same ever since. I mean honestly, as a person whose name has the exact same consonants spelling, why is this so hard to pronounce?
Anyways, it is getting close to the wire, and I figured that I would tell you what little plans I have put into this trip. I am bringing along Kung Fu Friday, the classic 2006 film directed by Chris Marrs Piliero that joins the rare ranks of films that I have seen an excess of 10 times. Alex has only seen it once, and he is a terrible person as a result. As a boy that was raised Catholic, I intend to cure him of this sinful nature. That and maybe a few visits to the View Askeniverse. I pray that his stance on Cop Out has changed, though. That movie was awful.
But yes, when I'm not on the airplane telling the stewardess this:

Or telling the person sitting next to me:

I probably will be preparing for the trip ahead. Alex promises me that we're going to be going into a record studio to see Straight Jacket Legends. That has been my dream from back when I wasn't a failed musician to see the inside of a recording studio. I doubt that it is Abbey Road good, but hey, Alex hates the Beatles, so there are some things we can forgive. However, I do want to warn people, I am expecting to join them on accordion, as they will most likely be playing this ditty:

Yes, Alex shaved his head and looks exactly like Denis Levant in Holy Motors, but I guarantee you, this depiction is not too far off from what I imagine the recording studio is going to look like. Also, Holy Motors comes out on DVD the day that I leave over there. I have no word on a DVD release here. I am so tempted to find a way to buy it because... it is a phenomenal movie that is well worth your time, and not just because I expect to be playing a lot of accordion. Fuck Region 2 DVDs man, I need this movie.
We're also seeing Django Unchained, which should be fun. I have honestly never gauged where Alex is in terms of Quentin Tarantino. I will finally know for sure. Of course, I expect this to be our ride home:

Yep, just annoying the bus driver to death with nonstop singing. We're great like that. In closing, I have eight days to prepare myself, and I don't know that I have much solidified besides Waddles and a bunch of books to read. I am going to miss being around the states for that long, but also, I realize that I need to get away. I need to get a fresh view on life, and see a lot of faces that I haven't talked to in years. Maybe you are one of them.

Again, I apologize for my lack of juicy information, but I want to accumulate you to this blog so that my launch in eight days doesn't feel quite unexpected. Do know that I am head over heels for this trip, and it may end up being the best thing about the year besides that moment where I finally get paid for doing what I have done for 20 years: write. Trust me, it will happen.
So, until my next sporadic post, which may be about in flight entertainment, I will leave you with this post, which hopefully will convince you to stick around for when I get serious with real pictures of things that I have done. Also, that last post of mine has convinced me that I need to upload some Enchanted songs. "Happy Working Song" was robbed at the Oscars. You tell me that there's a cuter way to say "toilet." Now THAT'S craft.
